This image is really old from when I was still in school studying pastries!
Date is from 2005!!
This is a wedding cake topper that I made.
The swan is made of pulled and blown sugar. For the body, it is all blown sugar and the head and neck was pulled out from the end to create a solid piece. The wings were pulled and then given their texture and shapped and attached later (as well as the tail).
Thanks so much! I want to create more pieces from sugar in the future.
The detail on the wings is not too hard actually. We have a leaf press which after pulling and shapping the wing, before it hardens we press it between to create the pattern. So easy to add that detail.
The hardest thing is creating the swan body, you have to keep the sugar warm while shapping, but at the same time, once you got it blown to the proper shape you want to cool it immediately or else it deflats. Hair dryers come into use XD
Ah sorry, sometimes I feel like I go into explanation of things and annoy people ;!

Whoa, pretty damn good job with the swan, it's beautiful! The wings turned out amazing (love the detail). I also enjoy the contrast of white on white, as they still differ not making the cake look simple, the design is lovely
Some imagination is always welcome and yours was a damn good example of an unique cake. Flowers are nice, but I think your option was way better as it differs from everything else. The couple who'd have that cake would be thankful for the fact that it's not an everyday cake, if I may say, hehe

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Oh, I see. That simplifies that end of things, but now that you describe making the body... x_x
No, it's interesting. You realize most of us non-pastry-chef types have no clue how this stuff is created, right?
